In celebration of DLA Piper relaunching its Leadership Alliance for Women network, the Edinburgh office LAW committee are hosting a discussion with Dr Cal Major on the 26 January.

Dr Major is a veterinary surgeon, explorer and ocean advocate who studied at the University of Edinburgh. Cal Major has conducted several stand up paddleboard (SUP) expeditions, including becoming the first person to SUP from Land’s End to John O’Groats, using the expeditions as vehicles for simple and actionable messages to protect the oceans and the wildlife within them. Cal was recognised with the Point Of Light Award by the Prime Minister for the work that she does to raise awareness of plastic pollution and is founder of the Paddle Against Plastic campaign and the Vitamin Sea Foundation.

Dr Major is an established campaigner against plastic pollution in her local community and nationwide. She has worked with businesses and individuals in the UK and globally to inspire the need to change.

We invite you to join in the discussion with Cal who will be speaking about the plastic pollution crisis, and the work that she has been doing with businesses and individuals to create change.

*Our Leadership Alliance for Women network was created to drive awareness, inspire and motivate change in creating a truly gender-balanced and inclusive landscape. Relaunched in 2020 as our Leadership Alliance for Women Gender Balance network, the mission continues.
