As we enter 2021, Britain embarks on a new relationship with Europe. A new set of rules, established through the freshly inked UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement that went down to the wire, will guide how we live, work and trade together in a post-COVID-19 world. As a global trading nation with an international financial centre at its core, this significant constitutional change will have implications for the UK not just this year, but for generations to come.

So what can we expect from this new era? And what are the implications for British businesses on the world stage?

For the next in the DLA Piper series on Global London, we are delighted to be welcoming Lord Mandelson as our virtual guest speaker on Tuesday 9th February at 6pm. Having held senior posts both within the EU as European Trade Commissioner and in the British government as First Secretary of State, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills and President of the Board of Trade, there is perhaps no-one better qualified to speak on this topic.

Lord Mandelson will give his view on the opportunities and risks that evolving politics, regulation and public policymaking will present for British businesses in this new era. He will be in conversation with Simon Walker, former Director General of the Institute of Directors and a Business Adviser to DLA Piper, and there will be time for Q&A as well. Please feel free to send in any questions in advance to Amanda Ashworth.
